Louis-Dreyfus researched role with US veeps (AP)

PASADENA, Calif. ? Julia Louis-Dreyfus said Friday that she spoke with two U.S. vice presidents to research her role in an upcoming HBO comedy.

The former "Seinfeld" actress plays Vice President Selina Meyer in the series "Veep." HBO said the character discovers the job is nothing like she expected and everything she was warned about.

Louis-Dreyfus said she wanted to find out details about life as a vice president, including what it was like in the official residence. She said she asked the vice presidents about the most humiliating thing they had to go through as second-in-command.

"I was interested not in the grandeur of it, because you can always get that, but the nitty-gritty of it," she said.

She wouldn't reveal which vice presidents she spoke to, saying she wanted to keep the conversations private. But in an interview on Friday, Al Gore said he was one of them.

Gore said Louis-Dreyfus peppered him with questions for about an hour over coffee, wanting to learn details about what it was like to live in the security bubble.

He said he'll watch the series. "I'll give it a try, because I like her so much," Gore said.

The series debuts in April.
